Two of the top three college campuses in Texas are in Fort Worth and Dallas.

Here are the best college campuses in Texas this year, according to Niche.com, a ranking and review site that compares colleges and schools throughout the U.S.

The ranking is based on key statistics and student reviews using data from the U.S. Department of Education.

“Top-ranked colleges offer outstanding campus resources across classrooms, labs, performance venues, housing, food, and recreational facilities,” the website says.

1. Rice University, Houston

The 300-acre private research university in Houston was named the number one college campus in Texas for 2023, earning an overall grade of A+ and an A+ for its campus. It also received four stars from 1,105 reviewers. The acceptance rate is 9%, net price is $18,521 and SAT range is 1490-1570.

“I came into Rice as a transfer student this past semester. I’m happy to say I’ve found a place where I feel completely welcomed and appreciated. This is where I was meant to be,” one junior said in their review of the university.

2. Texas Christian University, Fort Worth

Located on 272 acres about three miles from downtown Fort Worth, this private research university established in 1873 was named the number two college campus in Texas for 2023. It earned an overall grade of A and an A+ for its campus, as well as four stars from 1,702 reviewers. The acceptance rate is 54%, net price is $42,574 and SAT range is 1130-1350.

“TCU has an incredibly inclusive and supportive community. The professors genuinely care about their students and want their students to succeed. Many have their PhD, with years of real-world industry experience,” one senior said in their review of the university.

3. Southern Methodist University, Dallas

The private research university in University Park, founded in 1911, was named the number three college campus in Texas for 2023. It earned an overall grade of A+ and an A+ for its campus, as well as four stars from 1,553 reviewers. The acceptance rate is 53%, net price is $41,986 and SAT range is 1340-1510.

“I loved my professors and program at SMU! The campus is absolutely gorgeous and it’s a really good size without being too small or overwhelmingly large. The school is in the perfect location for local restaurants and shops while being 10 minutes away from the nightlife of downtown and the entertainment of the districts,” one alum said in their review of the university.
