Two Ukrainian minesweepers reportedly leave port in Scotland – video

“A great day for sailing as the Ukrainian Naval Ships Chernihiv and Cherkasy slip from (Forth Ports) Rosyth this morning,” the agency said in a tweet.

However, the relevant tweet was later deleted.

The United Kingdom announced in the summer of 2021 that it plans to hand over two ships, HMS Grimsby and HMS Shoreham, to the Ukrainian fleet under the Sandown project – part of the agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom on the development of the Ukrainian Navy.

The minesweepers were later renamed the Chernihiv and the Cherkasy. These are the names of minesweepers of the Ukrainian Army Naval Forces lost after Russia’s occupation of Crimea.

Ukrainian crews are currently undergoing training on the ships.
