Coroner IDs deceased victim in Indiana 57 two-vehicle crash

A collision between two vehicles on Indiana 57 in Vanderburgh County on Thursday afternoon killed a Mount Vernon, Indiana, man.

Vanderburgh County Coroner Steven Lockyear released the name of the deceased driver Friday. Rodrick D. Kohlmeyer, 61, died after his car was struck by another vehicle while he was attempting to turn west onto Ruston Lane.

According to a news release from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent to Indiana 57's intersection with Ruston Lane on Thursday afternoon for a two-car wreck. The second driver, whose identity is still unknown, was taken to the hospital for a chemical test, though alcohol and drugs aren't believed to be a factor in the crash at this time.

Kohlmeyer and the second driver were the only occupants in each vehicle, according to the release.
