DAVENPORT— One person died and several others were injured as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Davenport, Monday.

According to officials with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, around 1:45 p.m. 25-year-old Christian Soto Soto was driving east on Ernie Caldwell Boulevard while a black Ford Explorer driven by 39-year-old Brandy Swearegin of Haines City was driving south on Lee Jackson Highway. Officials said both vehicles crossed into the intersection at the same time and collided.

Rescue workers arrived on the scene and found Soto unresponsive in his car and transported him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries, according to a release.

There were three passengers riding in the Explorer, Sheriff's officials said, two of which were treated then released from the hospital with minor injuries. Swearegin was not injured.
