Two women hospitalized in separate pedestrian crashes in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM — Drivers were cited Wednesday in two separate crashes involving pedestrians that left a pair of Framingham women with serious injuries, authorities said.

The first crash occurred on Lincoln Street near Pearl Street at 7:41 am. and the second occurred on Prospect Street near Hemlock Lane at 4:03 p.m., police spokeswoman Lt. Rachel Mickens said Thursday.

In the first incident, a 48-year-old woman was struck as she crossed the street in a crosswalk. The driver, a 35-year-old Framingham woman, remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston to be treated for serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, Mickens said.

The driver was cited for a crosswalk violation.

In the second crash, an 80-year-old Framingham woman was crossing Prospect Street when she was struck by a car driven by a 29-year-old Framingham man. She was not in a crosswalk, Mickens said.

The woman was taken to UMass-Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian. He will also be summoned to appear in Framingham District Court on a charge of driving without a license.
