In Ukraine, during the two years of the land market's existence, from July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2023, 1% of agricultural land has been sold off, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy Denys Bashlyk announced on July 4, as reported by news agency Ukrinform.

“The amount of land [previously] under the moratorium was 27.5 million hectares,” he said.

“As of today, only 1% of all the land under the moratorium has been sold or purchased during the two years of its circulation.”

Bashlyk noted that according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, sale contracts for 275,157 hectares of agricultural land have been concluded. In total, 85,247 sale agreements have already been concluded in the market.

The Deputy Minister added that the average price per hectare in Ukraine is UAH 39,188 ($1,060), while in 2021 it was at UAH 32,972.

Earlier, the Kyiv School of Economics reported that the volume of the agricultural land market in Ukraine is gradually catching up with pre-war indicators.

The land market in Ukraine officially opened on July 1, 2021. Until 2024, only Ukrainian citizens can buy agricultural land, limited to 100 hectares per individual. Foreign nationals are still unable to purchase agricultural land in the country.
