TX constitutional amendment election: How many people in Tarrant County voted early?

About 65,000 people in Tarrant County voted early in Texas’ constitutional amendment election, which includes a statewide proposition to cut property taxes.

During the 12-day early voting period that ended Friday, 62,157 people turned out to cast ballots in person, according to the the Tarrant County Elections Administration. There were 3,093 who had voted by mail through Friday.

That puts turnout for the early voting period at 5.2% — higher than the early voting turnout in 2019 and 2021, Texas’ previous constitutional amendment elections, but still just a fraction of the county’s total registered voters.

Voters will decide whether to approve a statewide cut to school property taxes and increase, as well as other measures like a fund for state parks and a cost-of-living adjustment for retired teachers.

In addition to 14 proposed constitutional amendments, voters will weigh several propositions for area school districts and cities. They include funding for safety and salary increases in the Birdville school district and allowing liquor stores in Richland Hills.

Polls are open on Nov. 7 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
