Tybee Island Police Department investigating shooting

The Tybee Island Police Department received a call Tuesday night about a possible shooting, that resulted in one person being charged and the other being transported to a hospital.

The caller said he was on his way to the hospital in a private vehicle after being shot by an unknown suspect, who then ran away, according to Tybee Island Public Information Officer Emory Randolph.

The driver, who was not the initial caller, pulled over while speaking with communications personnel to coordinate which hospital would be closest, Randolph said. Police caught up to the vehicle, and learned that the alleged unknown suspect was actually the driver of the car.

No additional information is available at this time, according to the police department.
