Tyler Mahle's first Minnesota Twins start wasn't great, but it was good enough in a 10-inning win against the Toronto Blue Jays at Target Field.

Mahle allowed a home run in the 5th inning and two more homers in the 6th inning. But he completed six innings, having allowed four earned runs on five hits with a walk and five strikeouts in a no-decision.

The Cincinnati Reds sent Mahle to the Twins for infielders Spencer Steer and Christian Encarnacion-Strand and left-handed pitcher Steven Hajjar ahead of Tuesday's MLB trade deadline. Mahle was activated by the Twins on Thursday.

Encarnacion-Strand had two hits and two walks in his first game for the Double-A Chattanooga Lookouts on Friday night.

In three career starts for the Reds at Target Field, Mahle posted a 3.55 ERA and 1.500 WHIP.

Mahle allowed two runs in six innings and retired the final 13 batters he faced in the Reds' 8-2 win against the Baltimore Orioles last Saturday night at Great American Ball Park. It was the final start of his six seasons with Cincinnati.

In 19 starts for the Reds this season, Mahle posted a 4.40 ERA and 1.246 WHIP, with 114 strikeouts in 104 1/3 innings.

Mahle's former Reds rotation-mate, Luis Castillo, won at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in his Seattle Mariners debut.
