A pipe made of this material can be considered gold right now since hardware stores are running out of them.
- You look down the aisles, you might think, well, there's no one here even looking for help right now. No, that's not the case. This is the plumbing section and look, they have it taped off, so that way they can help out customers.
And they have them right here. And this is where the customers come and get help to have all of these parts. But we talked to a number of different stores to try to get you answers. To find out when these plumbing parts will be back in our area.
The amount of customers looking for help inside this Ace Hardware in Cypress hasn't slowed this week. The cold conditions busted pipes and now thousands are looking for new ones. The problem is there aren't enough to go around. At this Ace Hardware in Cypress the owner says he drove to Alabama just to get fresh parts this week.
While we were there, even more trucks arrived delivering goods. The big issue though, copper. The owner found some suppliers in colder climate states that had it, but it's still going to take a while to get fully restocked.
- That's a million dollar question. I honestly don't know. Copper is going to be the hardest thing. Right now we're probably looking at a week, 10 days to get fully replenished on copper. PVC, CPVC, PEX , probably by the end of this week we're going to be at about 90% stock level.
- Home improvement stores with more access to supplies are also having a hard time. At Lowe's, the store manager in Spring says the company is sending trucks from facilities across the country, but it's still not fast enough. They're having a hard time getting more supplies to the Houston area, especially with copper.
- Fully stocked, I don't know if that's going to happen any time soon. But we are getting product in. And again with copper, it-- this time we also have what we call PEX pipe which is-- a lot of this stuff is replacing the copper.
