Typhoon Lekima Hits Japan's Ishigaki Island

Typhoon Lekima hit Japan’s Ishigaki Island late on August 8 into August 9. The storm made landfall in China early on August 10, killing at least 13 people the South China Morning Post reported.

Hundreds of thousands of people in China were displaced by the storm and at least 16 are missing, according to SCMP. Lekima previously buffeted Taiwan and Japan’s Ishigaki Island, among other areas, as it moved north towards China.
