Tyra Banks Has Become a Celebrity House Flipper

The model has turned into a real-estate mogul

Could Tyra Banks be America’s next top house flipper? The supermodel spent much of her life ruling the runway and is now proving she can rule the real-estate market too. Over the past few years, she’s bought several homes in California, renovated them, and sold them for a profit—and she’s showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the television host just bought a Pacific Palisades home for just over $3 million, intending to flip it. The four-bedroom, two-bath house has been in the same family for 70 years after being built in 1949, and is in need of a makeover. Banks intends to transform it into a farmhouse–meets–beach cottage.

The star clearly has a keen eye for what’s valuable in the area, as the bones of the 1,600-square-foot space are perfect for an update. Inside the dwelling are a formal living room, a dining room, a sunroom, and a den complete with a rock-wall fireplace. Sliding glass doors lead out to a landscaped backyard with a brick patio. Banks clearly knew the property was promising, because she even outbid other developers. This is her fifth purchase in the popular area of Los Angeles.

The Sports Illustrated cover star joins the ranks of other models turned-real-estate moguls, like Cindy Crawford, who recently listed a Malibu home for quadruple what she and her husband, Rande Gerber, paid for it. Now that's something to smize about.
