Tyson recalls 30,000 pounds of dinosaur chicken nuggets. Did the meat make it to Florida?

Tyson Foods is voluntarily recalling roughly 30,000 pounds of its dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets due to finding small metal pieces in their patties.

The recall notice announced on Saturday, Nov. 4, that 29,819 pounds of the kid-friendly chicken were contaminated. The problem was discovered after the firm notified U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service that it had received consumer complaints reporting small metal pieces in the chicken product.

What states were included in the Tyson 'dinosaur-shaped' chicken nugget recall?

Approximately 16,500 packages of the product were shipped to distributors in Alabama, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin to be sent to stores.

Is Florida a part of the Tyson 'dinosaur-shaped' chicken nugget recall?

As of Nov. 6, the list for affected stores has not been released. USA TODAY Network-Florida has reached out to Tyson Foods on whether was affected by the recall but has not heard back.

The USDA said that it will post a list of stores that received the chicken on its recall website.

According to US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, there has been “one minor oral injury” associated with consumption of the nuggets.

The recall is for 29-ounce plastic bag packages containing frozen, “fully cooked fun nuggets breaded shaped chicken patties.” The affected products were made on Sept. 5 and have the following lot codes:

What do I do if I find a bag of the contaminated Tyson chicken nuggets?

Officials said they were concerned consumers may still have bags of the recalled nuggets in their freezers, and advised anyone who does should discard or return the product immediately.

Tyson advised purchasers and consumers of recalled nuggets to cut the UPC and date code from the packaging and call or text 1-855-382-3101.
