A U.S. Congressman is considering changing course and running for the Texas State Senate Dist. 30 seat, which includes Wichita Falls.

This comes in the wake of Sen. Drew Springer announcing he will not seek re-election to the post.

Rep. Pat Fallon confirmed to the Times Record News he is considering the change and will make a decision by Friday.

"I absolutely love Wichita Falls," he said. "It's where I became a Texan 32 years ago and where I wore the the uniform of our country,” Fallon texted as he was boarding a plane.

He authorized a statement saying he would make a decision on his political plans very soon.

Fallon would be no stranger to the job, he served as 30th Dist. senator beginning in 2019 after defeating Wichitan Craig Estes in a 2018 party primary.

He received criticsim for a talk to Wichita County Republican women in 2018 for remarks about State Rep. Mary Gonzalez, an openly pansexual woman. He later apologized.

Prior to joing the state senate, he represented the 106th state representative district for six years. He became Congressman for Texas' 4th District in 2021. He began his political career on January the Frisco City Council in Denton County.

In Washington, Fallon was one of 148 congressional Republicans who voted to block certification of Joe Biden as president.

He played football at the University of Notre Dame under legendary coach Lou Holtz and moved to Texas where he operates an apparel company specializing in military and patriotic clothing.

The 30th District includes the eastern portion of Wichita County, while the state's 28th District represents the western portion.
