U.S. congressman’s son accused of assaulting officer in downtown Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The son of U.S. Congressman Michael Guest was arrested in downtown Nashville Friday night after being accused of assaulting an officer.
In an arrest affidavit, a Metro Nashville police officer said he was conducting a patrol in front of Jason Aldean’s Bar when, around 11:06 p.m., a “clear plastic cup full of ice” fell from above and struck him in the left foot.

When the officer looked up to the rooftop bar, he reportedly saw multiple people pointing to the opposite corner of the bar. Police notified security of the situation and asked them to review any video footage from the establishment.
According to the affidavit, security was quickly able to spot the suspect, 20-year-old Michael Patton Guest, on surveillance video, which authorities said captured him “intentionally” throwing the drink off the rooftop bar.
Officers said they later found Guest near the bar with two alcoholic beverages in his hands and detained him. Guest initially denied throwing the drink, but investigators said he later admitted to the act unprompted while they were completing paperwork.

Two witnesses also told police they had seen Guest throw the drink off the rooftop about five to 10 minutes prior, the affidavit said. In addition, authorities said Guest admitted to drinking alcohol that night, despite being underage.
He is being charged with assault of an officer, disorderly conduct and consumption of alcohol under the age of 21 — all misdemeanor charges. Guest’s father has been representing Mississippi’s 3rd congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2019.
