U.S. Navy Blue Angels to headline Tinker Air Force Base as it hosts free air show

Tinker Air Force Base will host the free Tinker Air Show on July 1-2, featuring over a dozen planes performing at the base, as well as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels headlining the show.

The show’s theme is "STEM Takes Flight” and will last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. The air show, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m., also will include military and civilian aerial performers and a variety of ground display aircraft.

From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors can visit a variety of exhibits, including ones about robotics and drone technology, in the STEM CITY hangar at the northwestern end of the air show grounds. Ground displays, exhibits and vendors will be available from when the gates open to the public at 8 a.m. until they close at 5 p.m.

On the days leading up to the air show, Tinker Air Force Base will host a number of aviation-related events.

At 10:30 a.m. June 26 at the Charles B. Hall Airpark, Tinker’s installation commander, Col. Hall Sebren, will present the mayors of Del City, Midwest City and Oklahoma City with a proclamation declaring the week to be Armed Forces Community Appreciation Week.

At 7 p.m. on the same day at Centennial Plaza, there will be a free concert featuring the U.S. Army Band and the Honor Guard celebrating Armed Forces Community Appreciation Week.

There will be an unveiling of Tinker’s new mascot, Tink, which honors the Texas Horned Lizard, at 8 a.m. June 27 at the Charles B. Hall Airpark. The Air Force base will highlight conservation efforts and its partnership with the Oklahoma City Zoo and the University of Oklahoma.
