Aurora High School has been ranked No. 1 in the Akron Metro Area and No. 4 in Northeast Ohio by U.S. News & World Report in the Best High Schools 2022 edition.

The school also ranked No. 14 in Ohio, which puts it in the top 1% of all high schools in the state, and No. 461 in the nation.

The rankings are based on six factors, which include college readiness , state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth and graduation rate.

This year, U.S. News & World Report adjusted its calculations to account for the

cancellation of state testing in spring 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because

assessment data from the 2019-2020 year was not available, U.S. News incorporated

mathematics and reading assessment results from the three previous years' rankings

instead. And for the first time, assessment data includes most states' science assessments.

“According to the U.S. News and World Report, ‘The top ranked schools have a high rate of students who scored above expectations in math, science and reading state assessments, passed an array of college-level exams, and graduated in four years. The state, metro area and district rankings show how schools fare against others in a geographic location,'" Principal Mike Hayes said.

“Aurora’s status within these rankings is a natural byproduct of focusing on the roots (our strategic vision’s competencies) leading to beautiful flowers and fruit (the aforementioned rankings and scores)," Superintendent Mike Roberto said. "Thank you to all the amazingly dedicated Aurora staff members who continuously help nurture our students’ roots leading to such impressive outcomes."
