U.S. officials declare monkeypox a public health emergency

The United States has officially declared monkeypox a public health emergency, which allows more funds to be allocated to fight the disease.

BRIAN CHEUNG: Well, also, I want to remind everyone of some breaking news right now. The United States has formally declared monkeypox a public health emergency. This happening just now. The declaration will allow more funds to be allocated to fight the disease. And it comes more than a week after the World Health Organization declared a global health emergency. Monkeypox has been found in all but two of the US states. And the CDC has confirmed over 6,000 cases. The virus primarily transmitted through close physical contact.
