Republican U.S. Sen. Mike Braun, who is running for Indiana governor, has endorsed Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

"As a Main Street entrepreneur and political outsider, I’ve seen firsthand how the Washington swamp works against Hoosiers and works overtime to hamper our prosperity," Braun said in a statement. "Donald Trump is the candidate capable of returning us to the America First policies that delivered unmatched prosperity and security for the American people."

Trump previously rallied with Braun during Braun's 2018 senate race, where he unseated Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly. Trump has not made an endorsement in the Indiana governor's race this year.

Braun's companion in the senate, Sen. Todd Young, has meanwhile said his party should move on from Trump and find a different candidate who can win in 2024.

Just last week, Braun made headlines when the Club For Growth PAC, a major conservative fundraiser, announced its endorsement of the senator.

The group's president, former Indiana Congressman David McIntosh, has previously made remarks distancing the group from Trump, telling reporters in February that "the party should be open to another candidate." More recently, a new PAC affiliated with Club For Growth launched an ad campaign urging voters to move on from Trump.
