U.S. Senator Grassley tests positive for COVID-19

Republican U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley, one of Congress's oldest lawmakers, said on Tuesday (November 17) he had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The 87-year-old Iowa lawmaker is the latest in a growing list of members of Congress who have tested positive or are presumed to have had COVID-19.

Just last week, U.S. Representative Don Young, the oldest member of the House and the longest-serving Republican in Congress, announced that he had been infected with the virus.

On Tuesday, Grassley tweeted that he was "feeling good" and "will keep up on my work for the people of Iowa from home."

Earlier that day, he had said he was awaiting his test results after learning he had been exposed to the virus.

Grassley is the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, and has served as one of Iowa's U.S. Senators since 1981.
