The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a Republican effort to invalidate Obamacare, leaving in place the 2010 health care law that expanded coverage to millions.

The latest effort led by Texas and 17 other Republican-governed states to undo the signature domestic policy achievement of President Barack Obama has the backing of former President Donald Trump.

TRUMP IN 2019: "Obamacare is a disaster. Right now it's losing in court. Right now, the Texas court, as you know, probably ends up in the Supreme Court."

But the 7-2 ruling that plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge Obamacare won the support of both conservative and liberal justices.

Those joining the opinion tossing the lawsuit included two members of the court appointed by the Republican former president: Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett.

The decision marked the third time the Supreme Court has preserved Obamacare in the face of Republican challenges since the law was enacted.
