SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Fans of the University of Utah have a new way to get their hands on prizes and giveaways.

On Friday, Feb. 16, the U of U launched “U of U+,” a new platform that rewards faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and university fans with points that can be used to redeem U of U-based prizes. Points can be earned by simply engaging with University of Utah content and social media platforms.

“When users sign up for U of U+, they will find various challenges and games in their account that will help them earn prizes,” officials said in a press release. “Challenges include sharing social media content, watching videos, reading articles, taking surveys, opening emails and more. The more points you earn from challenges, the more prizes you can claim.”

Members can redeem points online at a “one-stop shop” that has customized content curated based on their interests, according to the University.

Prizes “cash-in prizes” for items such as a U of U Orca Cooler, a football or helmet signed by Coach Kyle Whittingham, or a pair of Pit Viper sunglasses. Other rewards include “sweepstake entries” for gift cards to the Utah Red Zone or trips to away athletic events. Other prizes may be added over time, including prizes for beanies, t-shirts, hats and more.

The University of Utah said in a press release that the goal was to get the community more involved in things happening at the U.

To celebrate the launch of the rewards program, university officials said anyone who signs up will automatically be entered to win a trip to the 2024 Men’s and Women’s Pac-12 Basketball tournaments in Las Vegas.
