New UAB football coach Trent Dilfer has contract approved through Jan. 31, 2028
UAB football coach Trent Dilfer's contract was approved by the UA System board of trustees compensation committee in a virtual meeting on Monday.
Dilfer, who was hired in November, will have his contract run through Jan. 31, 2028. His base salary will be $1.2 million with an annual talent fee of $50,000 and an annual promotion fee of $50,000. In total, he will make $1.3 million each year.
Dilfer spent four seasons at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, winning two Tennessee state titles and tallying a 44-10 record. Over his last two seasons, Dilfer went 26-1. His name was connected to college jobs as early as 2021. Then he took the UAB job in 2022.

Dilfer played quarterback in the NFL for 14 seasons, winning a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens. He went to the Pro Bowl in 1997.
He spent nine years in broadcasting, starting in 2008, with ESPN.
