Uber: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) on Wednesday reported a loss of $968 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of 54 cents.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 53 cents per share.

The ride-hailing company posted revenue of $3.17 billion in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Ten analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.58 billion.

For the year, the company reported that its loss narrowed to $6.77 billion, or $3.86 per share. Revenue was reported as $11.14 billion.

Uber shares have climbed 24% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $63.18, a rise of 58% in the last 12 months.
