The search for a man accused of domestic violence led to the discovery of a suspected puppy mill where 150 dogs were found at a Stanislaus County home, officials said Friday. Sgt. Luke Schwartz with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office said 150 dogs mistreated and malnourished dogs were rescued from a duplex on Roselawn Avenue. The suspected puppy mill was discovered while deputies were searching for Nicholas Baugh, a man who on April 30 reportedly hit a woman with an ashtray and used a shock collar on her. Weeks later, on May 19, Schwartz said Baugh was arrested at his mother's home, where the dogs were stashed away. The animals, which include Dobermans and French bulldogs, are now in county animal services custody. Video clips and pictures provided by animal services show some of the dozens of dogs living in deplorable, cramped conditions.
