UC Davis changing weekend commencement after 6 hospitalized due to extreme heat at Friday's ceremony

UC Davis officials announced it's making changes to Saturday's graduation ceremony due to the forecast extreme heat. Friday's ceremony was canceled midway through due to at least six people being hospitalized with heat-related illnesses. The UC Davis Fire Department received at least 36 calls for service related to the heat from people who were at the commencement ceremony on Friday morning, a UC Davis spokesperson told KCRA 3. At least six people were taken to area hospitals. The event started at 8 a.m. but school officials said by 11 a.m., the field was getting to hot to continue.
