UC Riverside next up for hot Lady Raiders

The Texas Tech women's basketball team will try to add to a nine-game win streak when the Lady Raiders host UC Riverside at 2 p.m. Thursday at United Supermarkets Arena.

Tech (10-1), which finished 11-19 last season, has outscored opponents by an average of 15 points per game during the streak. UC Riverside (2-7) lost its first five games of the season, beat Cal State Los Angeles and Long Island, then lost last week at Pepperdine and Utah.

The Lady Raiders are getting 13.2 points per game from both Rhyle McKinney and Bre'Amber Scott and 12.7 points per game from Bailey Maupin.

UC Riverside is led by 5-foot-10 junior Jordan Webster (9.4 ppg) and 6-foot junior Matehya Bryant (8.6 ppg, 6.7 rebounds per game).

It's the next-to-last non-conference game for the Lady Raiders before they start Big 12 play Dec. 31 at home against Iowa State.

LCU men's basketball

Lubbock Christian University forward Rowan Mackenzie was named the Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week for his performance last weekend at the Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mackenzie, a 6-3 junior from Perth, Western Australia, had 16 points and four assists in a win over No. 4 West Liberty and 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in a win against Le Moyne.
