UCF accepts bid to Military Bowl, will face Duke in Annapolis on Dec. 28

UCF's final football game as a member of the American Athletic Conference will take place on the home field of one of its rivals.

The Knights (9-4) will meet Duke (8-4) in the Military Bowl at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.

RECRUITING UPDATE: UCF Knights prepare for final push ahead of December signing period

UCF came up short in its bid for a fifth and final AAC championship Saturday, losing 45-28 at Cotton Bowl-bound Tulane. The Knights squandered a chance to host that contest by losing to Navy — for a second straight season, no less — back on Nov. 19.

This marks the first time since 2010 that UCF will leave the Sunshine State for a non-New Year's Six bowl. In that season, the Conference USA-champion Knights toppled Georgia 10-7 in the Liberty Bowl, played in Memphis, Tennessee.

UCF has a 6-7 record all-time in bowl games, including last year's 29-17 triumph over Florida in the Gasparilla Bowl to conclude Gus Malzahn's first season in charge.

Should the Knights win, they would secure a seventh 10-win campaign in its FBS history — and fourth in the last six years overall.

Duke, under first-year head coach Mike Elko, closed the season with four wins in its last five games. The Blue Devils posted a 5-3 mark in ACC play.
