UCF head coach Gus Malzahn announced Monday the addition of former Charlotte and Austin Peay head coach Will Healy to his staff in advisor and senior offensive analyst roles.

Healy, 38, was fired on Oct. 23 as Charlotte slumped to a 1-7 start, including an 0-4 mark in Conference USA and an average margin of defeat of 22.4 points. He finished his tenure with the 49ers with a 15-24 overall record, though he took the program to a bowl game for the first time in 2019 (Bahamas Bowl).

Prior to accepting the position at Charlotte, Healy earned national honors during his stint at Austin Peay. He won the Eddie Robinson Award as the 2017 National Football Championship Subdivision Coach of the Year, in addition to the Ohio Valley Conference's Coach of the Year award.

Healy began his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant at Chattanooga, his hometown. The season before, he was part of Richmond's FCS national championship team.

This offseason, Malzahn promoted Addison Williams to defensive coordinator and made outside hires for offensive coordinator (Darin Hinshaw) and linebackers coach (Ernie Sims).

UCF begins spring practices next month ahead of an April 14 exhibition game at FBC Mortgage Stadium.
