UCF defensive back Antwan Collier was arrested by campus police Thursday and charged with carrying a concealed firearm without a license and driving with a suspended or revoked license, according to Orange County court records.

“UCF Athletics officials are aware of the matter involving Antwan Collier. We have no further comment as we learn additional details about the situation,” UCF spokesman John Heisler said in response to questions about Collier’s status with the football team.

The Knights are set to play at Houston Saturday, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. and the game airing on ESPN+.

UCFSports.com was the first to report Collier’s arrest.

UCF police pulled over a dark-colored Nissan sedan after watching it move erratically east of Libra Drive on Gemini Boulevard at about 2:34 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest affidavit. Police records did not indicate if anyone else was in the car with Collier.

Collier provided an identification card and told a campus police officer he was working to get his license. When asked if there was anything the officer should know about the car, Collier said he had a firearm under his seat. The officer retrieved it and determined it was loaded. Collier said he had a license for the gun, but police could not find any record of it.

He was detailed, booked in the Orange County Jail, posted bond and eventually was released.

Collier’s traffic infraction is a misdemeanor and the concealed firearm possession is a third degree felony.

He previously was cited for driving with a learner’s permit without a licensed driver in the vehicle during separate incidents in December 2017 and May 2019, according to Orange County court records.

Collier has started in all five games the Knights have played this season, recording 22 tackles, three pass break-ups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
