UCF lifts shelter-in-place advisory after arresting armed suspect near campus

University of Central Florida police have lifted an advisory asking people in the area to shelter-in-place after arresting an armed suspect near the school’s main campus.

Around 8 p.m., the agency advised the public that it had received reports of an armed person near Parking Garage A, which sits north of the intersection between University Boulevard and Gemini Boulevard South.

In an alert, UCFPD advised the public to avoid the area or shelter in place.

UCF police spokeswoman Amanda Sellers said the armed person reportedly threatened a bus driver on campus at the Lynx station near Garage A.

“Officers are reviewing surveillance footage and actively searching for the suspect,” she said.

About an hour later an all-clear was given by the agency after the suspect was placed in custody.
