UConn men’s hockey drops third game in four, falling to No. 7 Boston University, 3-2

UConn men’s ice hockey fell to No. 7 Boston University, 3-2, on Sunday at the XL Center in Hartford.

The Huskies, ranked eighth in the latest USCHO.com college hockey rankings, took a first-period lead after former BU forward and UConn graduate transfer Ty Amonte crashed the net and buried a rebound for a 1-0 lead.

Boston University would go on to score three unanswered goals in the second period, however, as three different Terriers lit the lamp. Junior Nick Zabaneh, freshman Lane Hutson and senior Wilmer Skoog were the goal-scorers.

UConn got a goal back with the goalie pulled near the end of regulation, as freshman Matthew Wood redirected one home. It wasn’t enough though, as Boston University goalie Drew Commesso made 28 saves in the 3-2 win.

The Huskies have now lost three of four, and will break for the holidays before returning to the ice against Long Island University on Dec. 29.
