UConn men losing assistant coach Kenya Hunter to Indiana

The UConn men’s basketball program is losing one of its top assistant coaches.

Kenya Hunter is leaving to join the staff at Indiana, a school source confirmed. Hunter’s decision was first reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Hunter came to UConn from a Big Ten program, Nebraska, shortly after Dan Hurley was hired as coach in 2018 and formed what has been an effective East Coast recruiting team. Hunter has roots in the D.C. area and recently was considered the point man as the Huskies landed shooting guard Jordan Hawkins from DeMatha High.

At UConn, Hunter primarily worked with big men, and players such as Josh Carlton and Isaiah Whaley have showed considerable improvement.
