UConn men scheduling update: Start times for Big East games, TV information

Though the UConn men remain shut down due to a positive COVID-19 test last week, a little more information on their scheduling for the upcoming season has been released.

The Big East has set tipoff times for games in December, and all five UConn games will be televised by FS1, part of the conference’s contract with Fox Sports. The Huskies will make their debut in the conference against St. John’s on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion, followed by games at Georgetown Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m., at Providence Dec. 17 at 7 p.m., vs. Creighton on Dec. 20 at noon at Gampel, and at DePaul on Dec. 23 at 9 p.m.

So far, these five Big East games are the only games listed on UConn’s website.

UConn began a shutdown of basketball activity last week after a player tested positive for the virus, and numbers on campus have been rising. So the Huskies have yet to announce a nonconference schedule, with plans to open with home games vs. CCSU Nov. 25 and UHart Nov. 27 on hold.

The Huskies are expected to play in the Legends Classic at Mohegan Sun on Dec. 1 against Vanderbilt, which will be on ESPN 2 at roughly 5 p.m., and Dec. 3 against Southern Cal or BYU in the championship game on ESPN at 7 p.m.

There is the likelihood of a UConn matchup against NC State on Dec. 5 at Mohegan Sun, as part of the property’s series of games inside a pandemic bubble between Nov. 25 and Dec. 5.

On the recruiting front, the Huskies expect to receive signed National Letters of Intent this week from their three Class of 2021 recruits, guards Rahsool Diggins and Jordan Hawkins, and forward Samson Johnson.
