UConn women’s game Wednesday against Marquette canceled due to COVID-19 issues in Golden Eagles program

Right as the UConn women’s basketball team was about to sink its teeth into conference play, the Huskies face their first game cancellation of the season.

Wednesday’s game against Marquette at the XL Center has been canceled, the schools announced Sunday, due to COVID-19 issues within Marquette’s program. The Big East will attempt to reschedule the game.

The conference changed its COVID-19 policy last week to stipulate that if a program cannot field at least seven players and one countable coach, the game will be canceled and considered a no contest, unless the schools are able to play at a later date.

The Huskies’ next scheduled game is Friday against DePaul in Chicago.

According to UConn, season ticket holders will have access to their seats should the game be rescheduled. If it cannot be, a credit will be applied to the ticket holder’s account. Those who bought three-game mini-plans or single-game tickets can also use their ticket for the rescheduled game.
