UConn women will host Seton Hall next Wednesday in place of postponed Xavier game

The UConn women have added a game to replace the postponed Xavier game originally scheduled for next Wednesday.

The third-ranked Huskies will now face Seton Hall for the second time this season on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at Gampel Pavilion. The game will be broadcast on SNY.

This home matchup between the Huskies and Pirates has been moved up from its original date of Feb. 10.

UConn previously beat Seton Hall 92-65 in South Orange last month behind 25 points from Paige Bueckers and 21 from Christyn Williams.

The news comes on the heels of Thursday’s game against Baylor getting canceled after Kim Mulkey tested positive for COVID-19. The Xavier game was postponed when the program announced a suspension of play due to COVID-19 contact tracing.

UConn is scheduled to play Saturday against Providence at home (1 p.m., SNY) prior to hosting Seton Hall. If the Huskies win both games, Geno Auriemma will surpass Pat Summitt’s mark of 1,098 career wins and move into second place on the women’s basketball all-time wins list behind Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer (1,103).
