There’s more development coming on the UF Health East's Jax Spine & Pain Centers in Jacksonville’s Intracoastal West area.

The outpatient surgery center at 5191 First Coast Tech Parkway off Kernan Boulevard near Butler Boulevard is about to have another round of major work on the facility. City permits were approved in August for interior alterations and repairs.

The three-story facility encompasses 52,146 square feet. The first floor will house an outpatient surgery center and an MRI, the second will have UF Health specialty services and the third has Jax Spine & Pain suites. Construction was initiated and largely completed in 2021 as the project cost a total of $25 million.

The latest permits provide for work on an MRI unit and other upgrades that will cost about $1.4 million to complete.

Alcohol distributor sets sights on Westside

Southern Glazer’s is a major retailer and distributor for everything from wine, beer and liquor and also CBD products. The city's Building Inspection Division gave approval to permits in August that will allow Southern Glazer’s to proceed with a major makeover for an existing space at 6867 Stuart Lane near the Interstate 295 and Interstate 10 interchange.

The work would cover 20,000 square feet and overhaul office space and multipurpose rooms. The site also would undergo electrical renovations as well as emergency lighting upgrades.

The cost of the project would run about $2.7 million, according to the permits.

Arco National Holdings Inc. is the contractor.
