The renovation project for the five-story building will cost about $15 million, and Batson-Cook Co. is the contractor, according to the documents.

The Northside location has been a key component of UF Health's presence in Jacksonville that now reaches well beyond its main facility just north of downtown on Eighth Street.

The entire Northside project cost UF Health about $210 million, and the demand at the hospital has been increasing since it first opened. An additional 124-bed facility at the site is under construction and expected to be complete in 2024.

The original Northside medical facility opened in 2013 with frequent additions.

More warehouses coming

Two new large warehouses will soon be built in Jacksonville, which has seen a boom in industrial construction in the last few years.

InLight Real Estate Partners received permit approval for the beginning phases of the warehouses at 7489 Commonwealth Ave. and 1700 Imeson Road. The projects will cost about $26.8 combined to construct, according to the permits.

The projects are the latest additions to the Commonwealth Logistics Center, according to a report by the Jacksonville Daily Record.

Elsewhere in Jacksonville multiple industrial projects have either been finished in recent years or got underway. The city, the largest by land mass in the country, has become a mecca for major warehouse accommodations, notably with the presence of JaxPort and distribution centers such as Amazon and Wayfair.
