The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office opted not to press charges against longtime UFC star Chuck Liddell after he was arrested for domestic violence earlier this month, according to ESPN.

The prosecution said there was a “lack of sufficient evidence” to proceed with charges, and “the arresting officer concurs,” per the report.

Liddell was arrested on a domestic battery charge early on Oct. 11 after police responded to a domestic disturbance call at his Los Angeles-area home. An argument between Liddell and his wife, Heidi, reportedly became physical.

He was released from jail on bond later that morning. The case, per the report, was classified as a “cross complaint” after both Chuck and Heidi accused each other of being the aggressor in the “minor” incident.

Heidi reportedly had no visible injuries, and Liddell had a “slight red mark on his cheek and a small red mark near his chest.” Liddell’s daughter told police she saw her parents pushing each other during the altercation.

Liddell posted to Instagram after the incident, and described himself as the victim.

“This was one of the many times I have tried to shield a family mental health issue from the public purview,” he wrote, in part. It has become painfully apparent that this cannot continue, as our private life has now reached a public breaking point.”

Liddell, 51, is one of the most recognizable faces in UFC history. He finished his career with a 21-9 overall record, having last fought in 2010 against Rich Franklin, though he briefly returned in 2018 to fight Tito Ortiz. He was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2009.
