“The President looks forward to welcoming the Georgia Bulldogs to the White House,” a White House official wrote in a statement after the team took home the win in January.

UGA officials came out with a statement Tuesday that they received the invitation on May 3, but due to the team’s busy schedule, they would be unable to attend the June date.

“The University of Georgia first received on May 3 an invitation for the Bulldog football team to visit the White House on June 12. The Bulldogs didn’t get to celebrate winning the 2021 championship at the White House last year because of COVID-19 restrictions that were in place.

Other recent NCAA champions, including the 2022 Kansas men’s basketball and South Carolina women’s basketball teams, also haven’t visited Washington, although Biden tweeted he looked forward to welcoming both teams.

The White House confirmed that the Connecticut men’s basketball team and LSU women’s basketball teams, who won the March Madness tournaments this year, will visit on May 26.
