Did you see the new Apple commercial with a UGA cameo?

The 15-second commercial, titled “Discovering a Planet on Mac,” which was released on Nov. 9 according to iSpot.Tv, shows a user named Jason Terry, who was a University of Georgia physics and astronomy doctoral student as of spring 2023, logging in and working on a coding software.

A notification about an interview with UGA Today, the University of Georgia's news site, and Astronomy.com pops up in the top of the screen. An article on UGA Today with the headline "UGA researchers discover new planet outside solar system," which features a study that Terry co-authored, then appears.

"We are delighted that Jason Terry’s research was highlighted in the latest Apple ad campaign," said UGA spokesperson James Hataway. "This recognition is a testament to the extraordinary research conducted by faculty across the University of Georgia."

The commercial uses the song “All I Do is Work” by Kurtis Perrie, and ends with the slogan “Great Work Happens on Mac.”
