UGA to sell alcohol at football games beginning this season

ATHENS, Ga. (WJBF) – For the first time, beer and seltzer will be available for purchase to all fans of legal drinking age at University of Georgia football games, beginning this coming season.

The announcement came Wednesday at the Georgia Athletic Association’s Winter Meeting in Athens and was reported by several media outlets. Georgia and Auburn were the only two schools in the Southeastern Conference that still didn’t allow beer sales at football games, four years after the SEC began allowing it.

Georgia began selling alcohol at basketball games in 2021. The Bulldogs’ first home football game of the 2024 season is September 7th against Tennessee Tech.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
