UIS waives transfer application fees for 3 Central IL colleges

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) – The University of Illinois Springfield announced that starting this fall, transfer students from three Central Illinois community colleges will no longer have to pay an application fee.

As over 60% of UIS undergraduates come from community colleges, the university will now waive their $50 application fee for students transferring from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Richland Community College in Decatur, and Illinois Central College in Peoria.

“We recognize that the application fee can be a financial obstacle for many students,” said Rebecca Johnson, UIS Associate Director of Admission. “By removing this barrier, we aim to better serve those attending the community colleges closest to our campus.”

The waiver will automatically apply to transfer applications from the three colleges, starting with the fall 2024 application period.
