UJ Roundup: Jimmies basketball teams get big wins

Nov. 13—OMAHA, Neb. — The University of Jamestown used a 26-9 first quarter to get a 67-46 win over the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Lied Fitness Center.

The Jimmies (3-1,1-0) opened the first quarter on a 14-1 run before the Flames went on a run to cut into the lead at 37-24. After shooting 57% from the field in the first quarter, the Jimmies struggled in the second quarter shooting 25% from the field as they were outscored 15-11 in the quarter.

In total, the Jimmies shot 38% from the field and 39% from three. The Flames (2-3, 0-1) shot 27% from the field and 24% from three.

The Jimmies are back in action at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, when they host Dakota Wesleyan University.

VALLEY CITY — Despite both the University of Jamestown and Valley City State University having 48 points each in the second half of their matchup, the Jimmies outscored the Vikings (3-3) 55-36 in the first half, to get a 106-84 win on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse.

The Jimmies (3-0) sprinted out to a 22-9 lead in the first half, thanks to eight points from Mason Walters. Despite going into the break up 55-36, the Jimmies only attempted two free throws in the first half.

In the game, the Jimmies went to the line eight times hitting four of them. On the scoring front, the Jimmies were led by Mason Walters' 34 points.

The Jimmies return to the court at 7:45 p.m. on Nov. 16, when they host Dakota Wesleyan.

MOORHEAD, MN — The University of Jamestown swimming and diving team took on Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State University-Moorhead in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 12, in Moorhead, Minnesota. The Jimmies lost 111-92 to the Concordia St.Paul Golden Bears. The Jimmies lost 126-89 to the MSUM Dragons.

The Jimmies first win in the dual came in the fifth event as Sulinke Vandenberg got a win in the 200-IM with a time of 2:14.89. The Jimmies' next win came in the next event as Jada Shorter got the win in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 191.20. Shorter got the next win in the 3-meter diving event.

The Jimmies are back in action at 9 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, when they go to the Roger Ahlmann Invitational.
