UJ Roundup: Jimmies hoops win big at Midland

Nov. 20—FREMONT, Neb. — The University of Jamestown overcame a slow start to get a 75-61 win over Midland University on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Wikert Event Center.

The Jimmies (5-1, 3-0) trailed 11-4 in the first quarter before cutting it to 17-15 at the end of the first quarter. After heading into the break down 35-34, The Jimmies took the lead at 42-41 on a three from Hannah DeMars in the third quarter.

The Jimmies were led by DeMars' 26 points and eight rebounds. The Warriors (2-4, 0-2) were led by Emma Sheppard and Erin Prusa's 16 points.

The Jimmies are back in action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, when they go to Concordia University.

After the Jimmies struggled in a home loss on Nov. 16, they went on the road and found the scoring touch again with five players finishing with double-digit points in a 104-72 win over the Warriors (4-3, 0-1).

The Jimmies (3-1, 0-1) were led by Mason Walters' 29 points, with Reid Gastner getting 24 points, Will Cordes finishing with 18 and Marc Kjos and Colby Vazquez finishing with 10.

The Jimmies are back in action at 6:45 p.m. on Nov. 22, when they face Concordia.
