UJ Roundup: Women's hockey shutout, men's hockey win big

Nov. 20—MINOT — The No.15-ranked University of Jamestown went to No.5-ranked Minot State University looking for their first ever win against their local rivals and came up short, losing 4-0 on Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Maysa Arena.

The Beavers (7-3-1) opened the scoring in the first period when Jordan Kulbida scored to make it 1-0 at the 15:15 mark of the first period. Less than a minute later the Beavers doubled their lead when Olivia Opheim scored to make it 2-0.

The score would stay that way until the third period when the Beavers' Megan Norris scored to make it 3-0. The Beavers added another one when Kulbida scored to push the lead out to 4-0.

The Jimmies (5-9) are back in action when they rematch the Beavers at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.

NEWARK, DE — The University of Jamestown continued to travel the east coast and get big wins. This time, the Jimmies took down the University of Delaware 6-0 on Nov. 19 at the Fred Rust Ice Arena.

The Jimmies (8-4) had six different goal scorers as Gage Thompson opened the scoring off the assist from Reid Wilson at the 9:09 mark of the first period before Kole Christensson doubled the lead at 2-0. The Jimmies turned to Jordan Kromm for the third goal in the second period before Carter Johnson, Phillippe Lessard and Jordan Baranesky scored in the third period to put the game away.

The Blue Hens (8-8) were outshot 36-30 in the game.

The Jimmies are back in action at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2, when they go to Midland University.
