After a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Sunak said the UK was “accelerating” the transfer of equipment to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to “ensure that it reaches the frontline in coming days and weeks – not months or years.”

According to the PM, Ukrainian crews who arrived in the UK last week for training will be able to use Challenger-2 battle tanks to defend Ukraine by March.

“We must arm Ukraine in the short term, but we must bolster Ukraine for the long term,” The Guardian quoted Sunak from his joint press briefing with Zelenskyy in London.

“Your country cannot be that vulnerable to an attack ever again.

On Jan. 16, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace confirmed that London will transfer 14 Challenger-2 tanks to Kyiv.

On Jan. 29, first Ukrainian tank crews arrived in the UK for training.
