London “remains steadfast in providing Ukraine with weapons, increasing their co-production, and ridding the Black Sea of Russian threats,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said after talks with David Cameron, who arrived in Kyiv for the first time as head of the UK Foreign Office.

“Welcome to Ukraine, @David_Cameron! Our talks at @MFA_Ukraine proved that Ukraine and the UK are determined to work together toward victory,” Kuleba posted on X (Twitter) on Nov. 16.

Cameron, on his first working visit to Ukraine just days after being appointed, reaffirmed the UK's support for Ukraine and pledged moral, diplomatic and "above all military support for... however long it takes".

Zelenskyy congratulated Cameron on his new post, which he took in a cabinet reshuffle on Nov. 13, making an unexpected return to the UK government. Cameron, now a member of the House of Lords, the unelected upper house of the UK parliament, served as prime minister from 2010 to 2016, resigning after the UK voted to leave the EU as he had backed the Remain campaign.

"We are grateful for the unwavering support of Ukraine from the United Kingdom,” Zelenskyy told Cameron.

“We are grateful for the warm welcome of Ukrainian citizens in the UK. And we are glad that you came to Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian president posted a short clip of their meeting on social media, during which Cameron can be heard saying "I wanted this to be my first visit."
