UK minister says we are 'reasonably confident' on lockdown easing

LONDON (Reuters) - British housing minister Robert Jenrick said on Sunday the government was "reasonably confident" that a further easing of the coronavirus lockdown would keep the rate of infection in the country at manageable levels.

"Those additional easements together will still in all likelihood keep the rate of infection below 1. So we are reasonably confident that the steps that we've taken and will be taking on Monday are manageable, but we have to all continue to play our part in that," he told a news conference.

England's deputy chief medical officer, Jenny Harries, added: "This is a really, really critical time, so where we are seeing government is easing measures, the public really, really need to stick to those measures."
