STORY: Britain unveils rainbow coins to mark the 50th anniversary of Pride

The Royal Mint coin is the first to honor Britain's LGBTQ+ community

and was designed by east London artist and activist Dominique Holmes

The coin marks the anniversary of the first official Pride UK event in 1972

and was made with state-of-the-art printing technology

decorating it with the colors of the Pride flag

The commemorative 50-pence coin will not enter circulation

but will be available for collectors to purchase online
